SUMMARY

The Technical Coordinator, Youth, will coordinate technical processes related to program development and portfolio management as it pertains to youth programming with a focus on youth leadership, civic engagement, self-and/or employment and youth protection**.** The Technical Coordinator, as member of the Program Development Division and the Life Stages team, will collaborate with international, regional and field-based colleagues in support of program design, implementation, evaluation and learning in line with the organizational and life stage theories of change. Childfund International has structured its programming along the life stages of child/youth development. Life Stage 1 includes infants and young children, ages 0 to 5, Life Stage 2 includes children and young adolescents, ages 6 to 14, while Life Stage 3 focuses its programming on youth, ages 15 to 24.

Program Development

  • Supports the development of conceptual leadership on key topics related to ChildFund’s theories of change, particularly as they pertain to youth programming models that address the specific needs of boys and girls.
  • Supports Life Stage team in enhancing staff and partner learning related to youth leadership civic engagement, self and/or employment, and youth protection**,** utilizing experiential adult learning methods, processes, and tools
  • Closely collaborates with Life Stages team members on development of evidence-based approaches to achieving positive outcomes for youth

Resource Mobilization and Management

  • Supports the development of proposals and concept notes for National Office projects as it pertains to programming for youth.
  • Supports in the identification of opportunities for expanded program portfolio, including multi-year and diversified funding sources.
  • In coordination with the LS and proposal team, drafts capacity statements, past performance references.
  • Supports in the reviews of technical documents and ChildFund programs to inform go/no go decisions, problem analysis, partnering and staffing decisions.
  • Helps to identify and cultivate technical donors within public and private sectors.
  • Coordinates technical support to key grants.

External Representation and Partnership Development

  • Supports in the development of donor cultivation plan and on occasion meets with donors to present ChildFund programs and approaches in service of relationship manager cultivation strategies.
  • As needed, serves representation functions for the organization, including attending critical industry events, networking and advocacy functions in support of organizational profile and building ChildFund’s understanding of evidence based practice for deprived, excluded and vulnerable children. Required Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance, guidance, and coaching to international and field-based implementing staff and partners as it pertains to youth programs that address specific needs of boys and girls.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, work well under time constraints and meet deadlines.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, team player, self-starter and results-oriented individual.
  • Outstanding writing skills in English.
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual preferred (English with French, Spanish, and/or Portuguese).
  • Strong computer skills, with familiarity in using Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint), and preferably Salesforce.
  • Significant Travel outside of the US required (40%) Experience Required
  • A minimum of 3 years international development and/or non-profit experience required, including at least one year of international field experience with a focus on youth development and protection programs.
  • Experience with qualitative participatory inquiry methods and mixed methods research preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of USG and other donors (i.e. USAID, DOL, State, DFID, AUSAID, EC, etc.) multilateral, foundations, and other institutions’ grant making initiatives

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor degree required/Master’s degree preferred in a field related to child protection (international development, child development, community development, social work, psychology, education, sociology, anthropology, public health, etc.).
